Our Three-Step Digital Transformation Process
Our CEO, Ben Foakes, shared with our audience the three-step digital transformation process we take our customers on. The first step involves migrating companies to the cloud, regardless of the amount of data they possess. Then, we create a content hub with a media asset management system. This serves as a centralized location where all digital media and associated assets can be indexed, processed, tagged, searched, managed, and made easily accessible to authorized users worldwide. Finally, we transform your workflows, which involves custom software integrations or configuring systems tailored to your users’ needs. You can find out more about the three-step process and how we help customers deliver and implement a successful digital transformation within their organizations here.
How to Reimagine Your Workflows in the Cloud: The Tech Behind the Solutions
In this panel discussion, we welcomed on stage Ben Foakes, our CEO, and our partners: Bill Unsworth, Technology Director for the UK & Ireland at IBM; Ben Studer, Customer Success Director, EMEA at Backlight; Alex Ferris, Senior Director of Solutions Engineering & Enablement at LucidLink; and Christoph Jurkuhn, Director of Business Development & Operations at Hiscale. Each speaker shared key takeaways with the audience.
Ben Foakes emphasized that managing data has become significantly easier and is no longer intimidating, as many of the technical barriers that existed ten years ago have been resolved.
Ben Studer pointed out that the roles of individuals involved with media assets are becoming increasingly blurred. The responsibilities for creation, repurposing, publishing, and ownership are overlapping, meaning that it’s not just marketing teams creating visual assets anymore. Anyone in the business can now contribute due to the accessible production tools available.
Bill Unsworth highlighted the importance of trust for creators and those managing substantial media assets. They need to rely on their cloud infrastructure providers to be available 24/7, allowing them to focus on their work without wasting time. Security is also paramount at both IBM and base. We are ISO27001 certified, ensuring that security is embedded at every layer, and our support team is available for any issues that may arise.
Alex Ferris encouraged the audience to explore all available options rather than limiting themselves to familiar solutions. Many creators are accustomed to the traditional processes of copying, uploading, and downloading data, often relying on physical drives. However, more efficient and reliable workflows exist thanks to the technology stack that is offered at base. Solutions can be set up quickly, and with our skilled engineers who guide customers along the way, adoption is straightforward.
Christoph Jurkuhn concluded by emphasizing the importance of finding the best solutions for specific problems and integrating those effectively, which is precisely what base offers as an umbrella cloud service provider.
Success in Reimagining Workflows in the Cloud: What Our Customers Say
During this panel, we welcomed on stage our customers: Damien Cullen, Senior Content Operations Manager at The Football Association, and Will Murphy-O’Connor, Chief Creative Officer at High Performance Group. Grant Aaron, VP of Customer Solutions at base, joined the panel to share his experiences as a base customer (and is now a team base employee) where he utilized our solutions while working at a leading creative agency in the USA. The session provided several key takeaways from our customers:
Grant Aaron emphasized the importance of the customer experience when collaborating with vendors. At base, we have a dedicated Customer Success team who assist with onboarding new customers and users to our cloud infrastructure. This guidance and expertise are essential for streamlining the process and making it easier for the customer to manage their media effectively. Additionally, it is crucial for customers to have a solid business case to present to their CFO, one that focuses on cost, ROI, and how the new approach can transform their business. Our team of experts is here to support the creation of such business cases. Grant also highlighted the significance of scalability, quick user onboarding, and modernizing work processes.
Damien Cullen stressed that technology and systems are continually advancing, and those managing significant amounts of media must stay updated to capitalize on these changes. The sooner you understand new technology, the better positioned you will be to stay ahead of the competition. He pointed out that we are now in a digitally native generation, and this approach to the cloud will help attract talent within younger generations, and reliance on outdated storage methods like tape or hard drives will soon fade away.
Will Murphy-O’Connor emphasized the importance of recognizing the value of archived material and managing it effectively. It’s vital to leverage base’s expertise in establishing rules and permissions. He highlighted how base’s approach can lead to cost-effective storage solutions, and how building customizable templates tailored to a business’s specific needs allows High Performance Group to be more creative and focused on its core competencies. As a result, tasks that previously took days or weeks can now be completed in minutes or hours, enabling greater creativity and efficiency in content generation. They have also noticed the benefits of retaining their archive. By preserving this content, High Performance can retrieve and repurpose valuable material as needed, and the individuals they interview may become more well-known over time, further enhancing the archive’s value and potential for reuse.
