High Performance has a presence around the UK, including Manchester, London, and Bristol. Its team films a large amount of video and audio for every podcast episode, culminating in over 300 hours of content. They found it challenging to search for their media and required a centralized storage system to store the video assets of the guests they interviewed. This solution allows editors and marketing teams across the UK to access, edit, and retrieve content from one hub. Before base, High Performance stored all its assets and files into Dropbox, however, as its team produced increasing amounts of content, they needed a more scalable and robust cloud storage solution to accommodate their growing storage needs. This solution is needed to facilitate the rapid turnaround time of managing content from the shoot and uploading to the cloud efficiently. The speed at which they can now deliver content has been vital to the success of High Performance as it maintains and increases audience engagement.

base has worked with High Performance to migrate 78 TB of data from Dropbox into a leading Media Asset Management (MAM) domain within our tech stack. This holds the raw footage and final video assets from all its podcast shoots in one central repository and acts as the single library and archive storage for all its media content. To reduce the turnaround time from shoot to edit, we have installed an ISG (iconik Storage Gateway) syncing service within the High Performance studio. The team can transfer content from production hard drives and automatically generate screening proxies. These copies are then uploaded to the MAM system and into cloud storage. This enables the editors to remotely access all the files from the shoot as soon as they are offloaded from the hard disk drive.

High Performance also has its assets indexed and tagged with rich metadata to ensure its media archive is searchable within its MAM system. This powerful search functionality eliminates the tedious process of manually searching through numerous files of podcasts, books, and social content. This has saved High Performance time where the team can now focus its efforts on maximizing creativity rather than searching for files manually. This has also simplified production workflows and improved the efficiency of completing projects.

By using base solutions, High Performance has streamlined its editing process and improved its internal collaboration, enabling content to be delivered faster. Comments on episodes can be made remotely, which the team of editors around the UK can see in real-time. This means that adaptations and improvements to the content can be made quickly based on the comments. The team can work together from anywhere worldwide, accessing this MAM system online. They don’t need to dig through or send numerous files to find the content they require. They have one centralized place to manage and organize their assets and see comments made against files.

This improved workflow, developed by our team of experts, means that High Performance can continue to grow internationally as a business. High Performance can record content worldwide, while at the same time, the team can be back in the UK headquarters receiving, editing, and commenting on the footage. In the words of founder and Host of High Performance, Jake Humphrey, this has been a “game changer.”
